Quick Guide to assist buyers of plastic piping systems

SAPPMA is a voluntary, self-regulating, non-profit association that represents the plastic pipe manufacturers and other stakeholders in the industry with membership comprising most of the major players in Southern Africa.  The SAPPMA brand is well known and is recognized by design engineers and customers as additional safeguard against poor quality products. The purpose of SAPPMA is to create absolute customer confidence in the plastic pipe industry and to ensure the long term sustainability of the industry with top quality piping systems.

  • Are the products certified by a SANAS-accredited authority?
  • Is the manufacturer able to provide the following documentation?
    • Certificate of conformance of polymers
    • Quality Management Plan
    • Undertaking not to use any bought-in regrind material
  • Is the manufacturer open to unannounced inspections during production?
  • Is the quoted price realistic in terms of current polymer prices?
  • Beware of tenders where selling price (R/kg) is suspiciously low!
  • Is the supplier/manufacturer accredited by SAPPMA?

These names are provided without prejudice and as information only and should not be interpreted as being recommended by SAPPMA. We will embark on a process of verification of the materials in terms of the relevant standards and might supply this info when available. In the mean time we draw your attention to the fact that only two names on the list are currently members of SAPPMA, with a third in the process of application.
