Marking of Fabricated Fittings
IFPA Members have agreed that fabricated fittings will be marked (preferably with a sticker) according to ISO SANS 4427 Part 3; Table 8:
3. Date, welder number, etc, information that is needed for traceability
4. Nominal diameter and SDR
5. Material (PE 100 or PE 80)
6. Nominal pressure rating in BAR and derating factor according to Table B3 (cut angle derating factors)
At the IFPA meeting that was held on 21 April 2015 it was agreed that IFPA will adopt the Akatherm Stub Standard as interim solution, while a National Standard is being developed by the Association.
Rather than endorsing a specific brand, which IFPA cannot do, Akatherm is recognised as author and owner of the intellectual property. IFPA cannot use the information without publishing their name.
IFPA is well aware of the number of stub manufacturers internationally and also that the DIN/EN Standards do not currently provide the necessary solutions.
If any IFPA member find that their own dimensions are better suitable than those of Akatherm, please contact the IFPA administration office or bring your suggestions along to the next IFPA meeting. IFPA strives to enable its members to make informed decisions which will ultimately benefit of the entire plastic pipe industry.
